Goodwood Bakeshop is a community bakery creating delicious baked goods using seasonal ingredients and traditional methods. It was started by Jamie Goodin and Alex Alewood — whose names form "Goodwood" — who decided to take their wealth of experience and open a boutique and special bakery for the community.
Having previously worked together at Bourke Street Bakery — where they met — as well as Staple, The Bread & Butter Project, and Brickfields, Jamie and Alex bring more than 20 years of combined artisan baking experience to every loaf, pastry, and tart that comes out of the oven.
Since baking is what brought them together, and each other is what kept them going, they got married and created Goodwood Bakeshop in 2021 — a physical expression of everything they love.
Jamie and Alex meet at Bourke Street Bakery — one of Sydney's most celebrated artisan bakeries — and discover a shared passion for traditional baking and each other.
Over the following years, they build their experience across Sydney's best — Staple, The Bread & Butter Project, and Brickfields — collectively mastering every facet of artisan baking.
Married and ready to build something of their own, Jamie and Alex combine their names — Goodin + Alewood — to form Goodwood, and begin planning their community bakeshop.
Goodwood Bakeshop opens its doors at 297 Marrickville Rd. Within weeks, it becomes a neighbourhood institution. Within months, people are travelling from across Sydney to get there before it sells out.

We use what's in season, sourced as locally as possible. The menu changes because the best ingredients change — that's how it should be.
